Discover Flight

ASI offers the Discovery Flight to provide an opportunity for persons interested in flying to experience the excitement, challenges, and rewards of flying an airplane.

Your Discovery Flight experience starts with an introduction to one of our experienced flight instructors, who will give you a brief tour of our facilities and introduce you to our staff. He will then explain what you will be doing during the flight and answer any questions you may have. After this introduction, you and the instructor will proceed to the flight line where he will demonstrate how to perform a pre-flight inspection of the airplane and prepare for flight. Once on board the airplane, you will be instructed on how to start and taxi the airplane. When prepared for takeoff, you will share control of the airplane with the instructor. You are not just a passenger on these flights; you take an active part in the flying of the airplane. You will be guided through some basic flight maneuvers as you experience the joy of piloting the airplane. Don’t think that the flight is all work though. We always take time to enjoy the beautiful view that only pilots are privileged to experience.

Upon your return to the airport, you will have an opportunity to discuss the flight with your instructor. He will answer any questions you may have and make an official record of you first flight in pursuit of your pilot's license.
